What is Lidex Cream?

Lidex Cream is a prescription medication that is used to treat skin conditions including psoriasis, eczema, skin rashes, and skin irritation. Lidex Cream contains the potent corticosteroid fluocinonide and works by reducing the redness, swelling, and itching caused by these skin conditions.

Make sure to always read the patient information and instructions before using this medication. Always follow your doctor’s directions.

  • Wash your hands before and after using this medication unless you are using this medication to treat your hands.
  • Clean the affected area before applying Lidex and dry well.
  • Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected area and gently rub it in.
  • Do not cover the affected area with bandages or other coverings unless directed by your doctor.
  • Avoid getting this medication in your eyes, nose, or mouth. Do not apply Lidex Cream to skin that is cut, scraped, or damaged or to open wounds.


Tell your doctor and pharmacist:

  • About your drug and other allergies.
  • If you take any other prescription or over-the-counter medications.
  • Your medical history particularly of immune system problems or poor blood circulation.
  • If you are pregnant or planning pregnancy.
  • If you are breast-feeding.

You should also know:

  • All of your doctors should be aware that you use the corticosteroid fluocinonide.
  • Lidex Cream may affect growth in children and teenagers.

Side Effects of Lidex Cream

Common side effects of Lidex Cream include but are not limited to:

  • Dry skin.
  • Itching.
  • Burning or stinging.

Get medical help if you have any of the following side effects of fluocinonide.

  • Skin irritation.
  • Thinning of the skin.
  • Hair growth.
  • Slow healing.
  • Pimples.
  • Stretch marks.
  • Signs of high blood sugar including hunger, increased thirst, tiredness, confusion, frequent urination, fruity breath odor, fast breathing, or flushing.
  • Signs of Cushing’s disease including moon face, severe headache, slow healing, or weight gain in the upper back.
  • Signs of a weak adrenal gland including vomiting, upset stomach, severe dizziness, passing out, muscle weakness, mood changes, severe tiredness, lack of hunger, or weight loss.
  • Symptoms of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives, or swelling in your face, lips, or throat.


What should I do if I miss a dose of Lidex Cream?

If you miss a dose of Lidex Cream, you should apply as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip your missed dose.

What is the generic alternative of Lidex Cream?

The generic alternative for Lidex Cream is known as fluocinonide cream. Both Lidex Cream and fluocinonide cream are available in a strength of 0.05%.
