Advil Liqui-gels, also known as ibuprofen, is a medication used to relieve aches and pains. This drug is typically used for headaches, dental pain, menstrual cramps, muscle aches, and arthritis. This drug can also ease symptoms of swelling and fever. Advil liqui-gels are a fast-acting drug that contains solubilized ibuprofen that has been dissolved in a liquid center of a soft capsule.

Make sure to always read the patient information and instructions before using this medication. Always follow your doctor’s directions.

• Take this drug with or without food
• Take this drug with food if it causes an upset stomach
• Swallow the capsule whole, do not chew, break, or crush
• Take this drug with a full glass of water
• Take the drug at the first sign of pain for the most benefit
• You can take this drug every 4 to 6 hours
• Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses

Tell your doctor and pharmacist:

• If you have an allergy to NSAIDs, aspirin, or Advil.
• If you have a history of heart problems, gastrointestinal bleeding, or kidney problems.
• If you have ever had asthma caused by a salicylate drug.
• If you have recently had a heart attack.
• If you are taking any other NSAID, like aspirin.
• If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. This drug should not be taken in the third trimester of pregnancy. Talk to your doctor about when to avoid Advil Liqui-gels during pregnancy.

Common side effects of Advil liqui-gels include but are not limited to:

• Bloating
• Belching
• Acid or sour stomach
• Cloudy urine
• Heartburn
• Indigestion
• Itching skin

Get medical help if you have any of the following side effects of ibuprofen.

• Abdominal cramps
• Stomach soreness or discomfort
• Bleeding gums
• Change in vision
• Chest pain
• Blood in urine or stool
• Blurred vision

How long does it take for Advil liqui-gels to take effect?

The effect of the drug depends on several factors, but it can take around 30 minutes for full effect. You can take one capsule every 4 to 6 hours while symptoms persist. Do not exceed 6 capsules in 24 hours, unless directed to do so by your doctor.
