Alomide Eye Drops is a prescription medication that is used to treat seasonal eye symptoms caused by allergies including eye inflammation, itching, burning and redness. Alomide Eye Drops contain the allergy medication lodoxamide and works by stopping the body processes that cause allergy symptoms.

Make sure to always read the patient information and instructions before using this medication. Always follow your doctor’s directions.

• Wash your hands and remove contact lenses before applying this medication. Wait at least 15 minutes before replacing contact lenses.
• Tip your head backwards and use your finger to pull down your lower eyelid. Hold the eye dropper directly above the eye, look away and squeeze out a single drop. Keep your eyes closed for 2-3 minutes and press your finger to the tear duct to prevent liquid from draining away.
• If you need more than one drop of medication, wait around five minutes between drops.
• Do not touch the tip of the eye dropper or let it touch any other surface to prevent contamination.
• Do not use Alomide Eye Drops if there are visible particles or if the medication has changed color.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist:

• About your drug and other allergies.
• If you take any other prescription or over-the-counter medications.
• Your medical history.
• If you are pregnant or planning pregnancy.
• If you are breast-feeding.

You should also know:

• You should not touch the tip of the eye dropper or let it touch any other surface to prevent contamination.

Common side effects of Alomide Eye Drops include but are not limited to:

• Mild eye irritation, itching, redness, burning, stinging, watering or pain.
• Dry eyes.
• Blurred vision.
• Feeling like there is something in the eye.
• Eye crusting or drainage.
• Swollen or puffy eyes.

Get medical help if you have any of the following side effects of lodoxamide:

• Severe eye burning or stinging.
• Symptoms of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives or swelling in your face, lips or throat.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Alomide Eye Drops?

If you miss a dose of Alomide Eye Drops, you should use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip your missed dose.
