Alrex Eye Drops is a prescription medication that is used to treat eye inflammation caused by several conditions including allergies, shingles, iritis and severe acne. Alrex contains the corticosteroid medication loteprednol.

• Wash your hands and remove contact lenses before applying Alrex Eye Drops.
• Shake your medication well before use.
• Tip your head backwards and use your finger to pull down your lower eyelid. Hold the eye dropper directly above the eye, look away and squeeze out a single drop. Keep your eyes closed for 1-2 minutes and press your finger to the tear duct to prevent liquid from draining away.
• Do not touch the tip of the dropper to prevent contamination.
• Alrex is a short-term medication. Speak to your doctor if your condition does not improve within two days.
• Do not stop taking this medication without speaking to your doctor.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist:

• About your drug and other allergies.
• If you take any other prescription or over-the-counter medications.
• Your medical history particularly of eye infections, glaucoma, cataracts or cataract surgery.
• If you are pregnant or planning pregnancy.
• If you are breast-feeding.

You should also know:

• Alrex Eye Drops should not be used by anyone younger than 18.
• Alrex Eye Drops may cause blurred vision. Do not drive or operate machinery until you can do so safely.
• You should not share this medication with anyone else, even if they have similar symptoms.

Common side effects of Alrex Eye Drops include but are not limited to:

• Minor eye burning.
• Eye pain.
• Blurred vision.
• Feeling like there is something in your eye.
• Dry or watery eyes.
• Increased sensitivity to light.
• Headaches.
• Sore throat or runny nose.

Get medical help if you have any of the following side effects of loteprednol:

• Pain in or behind the eyes.
• Worsening itching or redness.
• Eye swelling or problems closing the eyes.
• Sudden vision changes including tunnel vision or seeing halos around lights.
• Signs of an eye infection including severe discomfort, drainage, crusting or redness.
• Symptoms of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives or swelling in your face, lips or throat.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Alrex Eye Drops?

If you miss a dose of Alrex Eye Drops, you should apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip your missed dose.
