Enablex is a prescription medication that is used to treat the symptoms of overactive bladder including incontinence, urgent urination and frequent urination. Enablex contains the medication darifenacin and works by reducing muscle spasms in the bladder and the urinary tract.

• Enablex can be taken with or without food.
• Take this medication with water.
• Swallow Enablex whole without chewing or crushing.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist:

• About your drug and other allergies.
• If you take any other prescription or over-the-counter medications.
• Your medical history particularly of stomach disorders, glaucoma, liver disease, a stomach blockage, intestinal blockage, ulcerative colitis or myasthenia gravis.
• If you have trouble emptying your bladder, or if you have little urine or a weak urine stream.
• If you are pregnant or planning pregnancy.
• If you are breast-feeding.

You should also know:

• Enablex can reduce perspiration. Take care not to become dehydrated or overheated in hot weather.
• This medication can affect your vision, reactions and thinking. Do not drive or operate machinery until you can do it safely.

Common side effects of Enablex include but are not limited to:

• Headaches.
• Dizziness.
• Nausea.
• Indigestion.
• Constipation.
• Blurred vision.
• Dry mouth.

Get medical help if you have any of the following side effects of darifenacin

• Painful or burning urination.
• Little or no urination.
• Severe stomach pain or constipation.
• Confusion or hallucinations.
• Dehydration symptoms including heavy sweating, hot or dry skin, being unable to urinate or feeling very hot or thirsty.
• Symptoms of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives or swelling in your face, lips or throat.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Enablex?

If you miss a dose of Enablex, you should take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip your missed dose.

What is the strength of Enablex?

Enablex and the generic alternative darifenacin ER are both available in a strength of 7.5mg. Only brand name Enablex is available in a strength of 15mg.
