Erythromycin eye ointment is a prescription medication that is used to treat bacterial infections in the eyes. Erythromycin is an antibiotic medication and works by fighting bacteria. Erythromycin eye ointment should not be used to treat viral or fungal infections.

  • Wipe away excess ointment from your eyelashes using a tissue.
  • Do not touch the tip of the ointment tube to prevent contamination.
  • Use erythromycin eye ointment for the full amount of time prescribed, even if your symptoms improve before then.
