What is Estrace?

Are you tired and frustrated with the cost of your prescription medications? By ordering with RXConnected, you can save up to 90% on the price of Estrace. We are a safe, convenient and affordable option to expensive drug prices. Order online or call us 7 days a week.

Estrace is a female hormone medication containing estradiol. Estrace is used to reduce the symptoms of menopause including hot flashes and vaginal dryness. Estradiol may also be prescribed to prevent osteoporosis in menopausal women and to replace estrogen in women with conditions that cause a lack of natural estrogen in women. Estrace may also be used as part of cancer treatment for both men and women.

Make sure to always read the patient information and instructions before using this medication. Always follow your doctor’s directions.

  • Take Estrace orally with or without food. Taking Estrace with food or right after a meal may help to prevent stomach upset.
  • Your doctor may want to check your progress regularly while taking this medication.
  • Self-examine your breasts for lumps each month and have annual mammograms while taking Estrace.
  • Estrace is most effective when it is taken regularly. Try to take it at the same time each day.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist:

  • About your drug and other allergies.
  • If you take any other prescription or over-the-counter medications.
  • Your medical history particularly of unusual vaginal bleeding, liver disease, heart attack, stroke, blood clots, heart problems, hereditary blood disorders, cancer, liver problems, jaundice, kidney disease, gallbladder disease, asthma, epilepsy, seizures, migraines, lupus, endometriosis, uterine fibroid tumours, hereditary angioedema, porphyria, thyroid disorders or high levels of calcium in your blood.
  • If you are breastfeeding.
  • If you will be having or have recently had surgery or if you will be confined to a bed or chair for a period of time. These conditions may increase the chance of blood clots.

You should also know:

  • Estrace should not be used during pregnancy.
  • You should not smoke while taking this medication. Estrogens combined with smoking can increase the risk of stroke, heart attack, blood clots and high blood pressure particularly in women over 35.

  • Unusual vaginal bleeding or pelvic pain.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Estrace?

If you miss a dose of Estrace, you should take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip your missed dose.

What is the generic alternative to Estrace?

Generic Estrace is known as estradiol and is available in the same 0.5mg, 1mg and 2mg strengths.
