Flonase Nasal Spray is a prescription medication that is used to treat symptoms of seasonal and year-round allergies including nasal congestion, itchy eyes, watering eyes, sneezing, or runny nose. Flonase Nasal Spray contains the corticosteroid fluticasone propionate which works by preventing the release of substances that can cause inflammation.

• Blow your nose gently and shake Flonase Nasal Spray well before use.
• Spray this medication into the nose only.
• Rinse with water if this spray gets into your eyes or mouth.
• It may take several days to feel the full benefits of this medication.
• Do not share this medication with anyone else, even if they have similar symptoms.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist:

• About your drug and other allergies.
• If you take any other prescription or over-the-counter medications.
• Your medical history particularly of nose sores, nose ulcers, nose injuries, nose surgery, diabetes, liver disease, weak immune system, any infection, glaucoma, cataracts.
• If you are pregnant or planning pregnancy.
• If you are breast-feeding.

You should also know:

• This medication may weaken your immune system. Avoid people that are sick or have infections. Speak to your doctor immediately if you are exposed to measles or chickenpox.

Common side effects of Flonase Nasal Spray include but are not limited to:

• Minor nosebleeds.
• Breathing problems.
• White patches or sores in or around the nose.
• Itching or burning in the nose.
• Headaches.
• Sore throat, fever, or sinus pain.
• Nausea or vomiting.
• Back pain.
• Coughing.

Get medical help if you have any of the following side effects of fluticasone:

• Severe or persistent nosebleeds.
• Fever, chills, or body aches.
• Eye pain.
• Vision changes including blurred vision and seeing halos around lights.
• Any wounds that do not heal.
• In children, affected growth.
• Signs of a hormonal disorder including nausea, vomiting, lightheadedness, worsening tiredness, or muscle weakness.
• Symptoms of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives, or swelling in your face, lips, or throat.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Flonase Nasal Spray?

If you miss a dose of Flonase Nasal Spray, you should use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip your missed dose.

What is the strength of Flonase Nasal Spray?

Flonase Nasal Spray and the generic alternative fluticasone nasal spray are available in a strength of 50mcg.
