• Alcohol can increase the risk of side effects of this medication.

Common side effects of levetiracetam XR include but are not limited to:

• Infection
• Loss of appetite
• Stuffy nose
• Weakness
• Feeling drowsy or tired
• Dizziness

Get medical help if you have any of the following side effects of levetiracetam XR

• New or worsening mood or behavior changes including depression, being more talkative, unusual risk-taking, panic attacks, agitation, hyperactivity, irritation, anxiety, sleeping problems, hostility or suicidal thoughts or actions
• Movement or walking problems
• Loss of balance or coordination
• Feeling very weak, tired or drowsy
• Confusion or hallucinations
• Any rash
• Easier bruising or bleeding
• Signs of infection including fever, chills or weakness
• Signs of a severe skin reaction including a red or purple skin rash that spreads, peels and blisters; fever, skin pain, sore throat or burning in your eyes
• Symptoms of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives or swelling in your face, lips or throat

What should I do if I miss a dose of Levetiracetam XR?

If you miss a dose of Levetiracetam XR, you should take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip your missed dose. Refill your prescription before it runs out so there is no pause in your treatment.
