Lamisil Cream is a prescription medication that is used to treat fungal conditions including athlete’s foot, ringworm, pityriasis and jock itch. Lamisil contains the antifungal medication terbinafine and works by preventing the growth of fungus.

Make sure to always read the patient information and instructions before using this medication. Always follow your doctor’s directions.

• Lamisil Cream should only be applied to the skin.
• Clean and dry the affected area thoroughly before applying.
• Apply a thin layer of medication to the affected area.
• Wash your hands after applying unless you are using Lamisil to treat your hands.
• Do not cover or bandage the area unless your doctor directs you to.
• Flush with plenty of water if you get cream in your eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina.
• Use this medication for the full amount of time prescribed even if your symptoms clear.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist:

• About your drug and other allergies.
• If you take any other prescription or over-the-counter medications.
• Your medical history particularly of liver damage, liver disease, liver problems, kidney problems, lupus, or a weak immune system.
• If you are pregnant or planning pregnancy.
• If you are breast-feeding. This medication may pass into breast-milk.

You should also know:

• This medication may make it easier to sunburn. Avoid tanning beds and wear protective clothing and sunscreen while outdoors.
• Avoid caffeine while taking this medication.

Common side effects of Lamisil Cream include but are not limited to:

• Headaches.
• Nausea.
• Rash,
• Diarrhea or gas.
• Stomach pain or stomach upset.
• Abnormal liver function tests.

Get medical help if you have any of the following side effects of terbinafine:

• Swelling, oozing, or blistering where applied.
• Blood in your urine or stools.
• Unusual bleeding, easy bruising, purple or red spots under your skin or pale skin.
• Little or no urination.
• Depression or a lack of interest in daily activities.
• Anxiety or restlessness.
• Trouble sleeping.
• Weight loss or a loss of appetite.
• Swelling or rapid weight gain.
• Skin sores.
• A butterfly-shaped rash on your cheeks and nose.
• Changes in your taste or smell senses.
• Signs of liver damage such as upper stomach pain, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice, nausea, vomiting, or tiredness.
• Signs of a severe skin reaction such as skin pain, fever, a red or purple skin rash that spreads, blisters and peels, sore throat, or burning eyes.
• Signs of a serious drug reaction including skin rash, flu-like symptoms, jaundice, fever, swollen glands, muscle aches, severe weakness, or unusual bruising. This may occur several weeks after starting this treatment.
• Symptoms of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives, or swelling in your face, lips or throat.
