What is Mirvaso Gel?

Mirvaso Gel is a prescription medication that is used to treat the skin condition rosacea. Mirvaso Gel contains the alpha agonist drug brimonidine tartrate and works by narrowing blood vessels to reduce redness.

Make sure to always read the patient information and instructions before using this medication. Always follow your doctor’s directions.

  • Mirvaso Gel is typically taken once daily.
  • Apply a pea-sized amount of medication to each area of the face that is affected.
  • Avoid getting this medication near your eyes or on your lips.
  • Do not apply Mirvaso Gel to open wounds or skin that is irritated, dry, chapped, sunburned or windburned.


Tell your doctor and pharmacist:

  • About your drug and other allergies.
  • If you take any other prescription or over-the-counter medications, especially heart or blood pressure medications.
  • Your medical history particularly of heart disease, blood vessel disorders, coronary artery disease, circulation problems, low blood pressure, Sjorgren’s syndrome, depression or scleroderma.

  • If you are pregnant or planning pregnancy.
  • If you are breast-feeding.

Side Effects of Mirvaso Gel

Common side effects of Mirvaso Gel include but are not limited to:

  • Mild skin burning or redness.
  • Flushing.
  • Lighter or pale skin where applied.

Get medical help if you have any of the following side effects of brimonidine:

  • Severe skin irritation, burning, or redness.
  • Slow heartbeat.
  • Feeling dizzy or lightheaded.
  • Symptoms of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives, or swelling in your face, lips, or throat.


What should I do if I miss a dose of Mirvaso Gel?

If you miss a dose of Mirvaso Gel, you should use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip your missed dose.
