Description

Domperidone is used to increase bowel and stomach contractions. It can treat nausea and vomiting that occurs as a side effect of drugs used to treat Parkinson's.

Due to safety concerns, this medication is not to be used by breast-feeding women to increase production of breast milk.

Directions
  • Follow your doctor's dosing guidelines exactly, and make sure to read any information that comes with the drug.
  • If you miss a dose of domperidone, take it as soon as you remember, but if it's almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose; never double doses
  • Store this drug at room temperature away from direct light, heat, and moisture; do not freeze
  • Dispose of outdated medication - ask your pharmacist for disposing guidelines
  • Keep away from children and pets
Cautions

General precautions:

  • See your doctor regularly
  • If symptoms do not improve within a few days or get worse, contact your doctor

Before taking this drug, tell your doctor if any of the following pertain to you:

  • Children and geriatric patients should ask for further advice
  • Bowel problems or bleeding in the stomach
  • Pituitary (brain) tumor
  • Liver disease

  • An overdose (fainting, irregular pulse, lightheadedness, unbalanced walking, difficult speech, confusion)
  • Symptoms of an allergic reaction: hives, breathing difficulty, swollen face/lips/tongue/throat

Interactions: 

  • Consuming grapefruit juice is not recommended
  • Follow your doctor's directions on food, beverage, tobacco, and alcohol limitations
