Ketoprofen SR is a prescription medication that is used to treat pain and inflammation caused by arthritis or menstruation. Ketoprofen SR is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and works by reducing the hormones in the body that cause pain or inflammation.

Make sure to always read the patient information and instructions before using this medication. Always follow your doctor’s directions.

• Ketoprofen SR can be taken with or without food.
• Take Ketoprofen SR with food or milk to prevent upset stomach.
• Swallow this medication whole without chewing or crushing.
• You may need regular medical tests while taking Ketoprofen SR.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist:

• About your drug and other allergies.
• If you take any other prescription or over-the-counter medications.
• Your medical history particularly of heart bypass surgery, heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, blood clots, stomach ulcers, stomach bleeding, liver disease, kidney disease, fluid retention or asthma.
• If you will be having heart bypass surgery.
• If you smoke.
• If you are pregnant or planning pregnancy. Oruvail should not be taken during the final three months of pregnancy
• If you are breast-feeding. It is not known if this medication passes into breast-milk.

You should also know:

• Oruvail should not be taken by anyone younger than 18.
• Alcohol increases the risk of stomach bleeding. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medication.
• Avoid taking aspirin alongside Oruvail.

Common side effects of ketoprofen SR include but are not limited to:

• Headaches.
• Sleep problems.
• Nausea.
• Constipation.
• Diarrhea or gas.
• Indigestion or stomach pain.
• Nervousness.
• Swelling in the hands or feet.

Get medical help if you have any of the following side effects of ketoprofen SR:

• Shortness of breath.
• Any skin rash.
• Swelling or rapid weight gain.
• Signs of a kidney problem including shortness of breath, tiredness, swelling in the feet or ankles, or urination that is painful, burning, or less frequent.
• Signs of low red blood cells including shortness of breath, rapid heart rate, pale skin, lightheadedness, or concentration problems.
• Signs of a severe skin reaction including fever, burning eyes, sore throat, swelling in the face or tongue, or skin pain that is followed by a red or purple rash that spreads and causes blistering and peeling.
• Signs of stomach bleeding including vomit that looks like coffee grounds, coughing up blood, or bloody or tarry stools.
• Signs of a liver problem including flu symptoms, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice, upper stomach pain, nausea, tiredness, itching, or loss of appetite.
• Signs of a stroke or heart attack including slurred speech, shortness of breath, chest pain that spreads to the jaw or shoulder, or sudden numbness or weakness especially on one side of the body.
• Symptoms of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives, or swelling in your face, lips, or throat.

Can Ketoprofen SR be taken during pregnancy?

Ketoprofen can harm an unborn baby and should not be taken during the final three months of pregnancy.
