What is Retin-A Micro Gel-Pump?

Retin-A Micro is a medication containing tretinoin which is used to treat acne. Tretinoin belongs to a group of medications called retinoids which affect the growth of skin cells. This helps to decrease the number and severity of pimples as well as promoting the quick healing of pimples which do develop.

• Wash your hands and the affected skin before applying Retin-A Micro Gel-Pump. Use a mild or soapless cleanser and pat dry.
• Apply a pea-sized amount of medication with your fingertips creating a thin layer over the affected skin.
• Retin-A Micro Gel-Pump is usually used once a day at bedtime. Wash your hands after applying this medication.
• Do not apply tretinoin to cut, sunburned, scraped eczema affected skin or to the inner lip or inside your nose or mouth. Avoid getting this medication in your eyes. If it does get in your eyes, wash with large amounts of water and call your doctor if eye irritation occurs.
• Your acne may appear worse during the first few weeks of using tretinoin. It can take up to eight-twelve weeks to notice results.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist:

• About your drug and other allergies.
• If you take any other prescription or over-the-counter medications.
• Your medical history particularly of eczema.
• If you are pregnant, planning on pregnancy or breast-feeding.

You should also know:

• Weather extremes including wind and cold may be irritating to your skin.
• Avoid electrolysis, waxing and chemical depilatories for hair removal on the affected areas while using Retin-A.

Common side effects of Retin-A include but are not limited to:

• Warmth or stinging for a brief time after applying.
• Skin redness, itching, dryness, scaling, mild burning or the worsening of acne during the first two to four weeks of using tretinoin.

Get medical help if you have any of the following side effects of Retin-A:

• Blistering, crusting, severe burning or swelling of the skin.
• Eyelid swelling, eye redness or watering.
• Skin discoloration.
• Symptoms of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives or swelling in your face, lips or throat.

How long does it take Retin-A Micro Gel-Pump to work?

Your acne may appear worse during the first few weeks of using tretinoin. It can take up to eight-twelve weeks to notice results.
