Sanctura XR is a prescription medication that is used to treat symptoms of overactive bladder including incontinence, frequent urination, and urgent urination. Sanctura XR is an antispasmodic drug that contains trospium chloride XR. Sanctura XR helps to control your urination by relaxing the muscles in the bladder, relieving bladder spasms.

Make sure to always read the patient information and instructions before using this medication. Always follow your doctor’s directions.

• Sanctura XR should be taken in the morning on an empty stomach, at least one hour before eating.
• Swallow Sanctura XR whole without crushing or chewing.
• Try to take this medication at the same time each day.
• Do not drink alcohol within two hours before or after using Sanctura XR.
• Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist:

• About your drug and other allergies.

• This medication can cause blurred vision or affect your reactions. Do not drive or operate machinery until you can do so safely.
• Older adults may be more sensitive to the side effects of Sanctura XR.
• Sanctura XR may decrease sweating making it easier to become dehydrated. Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication.

Common side effects of Sanctura XR include but are not limited to:

• Headaches.
• Dizziness.
• Upset stomach.
• Gas.
• Mild constipation.
• Drowsiness.
• Dry eyes, mouth, or throat.

Get medical help if you have any of the following side effects of trospium chloride:

• Confusion or hallucinations.
• Less frequent or no urination.
• Severe constipation.
• Severe stomach pain or bloating.
• Symptoms of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives, or swelling in your face, lips, or throat.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Sanctura XR?

If you miss a dose of Sanctura XR, you should take it one hour before your next meal. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip your missed dose.

Sanctura XR is also known as Regurin XL internationally. Regurin XL is the same brand name medication with a different name internationally and is not a generic alternative medication. Generic Sanctura XR is called trospium chloride XR.
